Today Google announced, curiously form their Twitter page, that Facebook updates would now appear within their search engine results. How this will quite take shape I don’t think anyone is quite yet sure but it’s worth looking out for them over the next few weeks whenever your using Google. One thing is for sure, Google’s move now makes Facebook profiles far more powerful in terms of web marketing. As this article neatly concludes.
Why Facebook?
I would imagine this comes down to the relative lack of spam on Facebook when compared to Twitter and other social networks. The ‘human’ element of accepting ‘friends’ to your network goes a long way to ensuring Facebook is fairly spam free. I would also assume that this is simply Google’s first step in integrating social media results and Twitter posts will be next…once they work out how to deal with all that spam.
