My name is Phil Byrne and until recently I have been a UK based web marketeer.

I was truly bitten by the web back in 1998. At the time I was enjoying a fine life promoting live music and clubnights and gaining my first insights into the offline marketing mix. I was already using dial up internet access for email, and had just switched from Breathe Internet to the then new Freeserve revolution.

After dabbling in graphic design to promote our music events, I tried my hand at designing a few websites for bands and other clubnights I knew. My tool of choice at the time was  Netscape Composer, a free HTML editor that came bundled with their browser. Over 300 websites later and quite a few things have changed to say the least!

Thesedays, I spend most of my time coordinating the web marketing activities for our clients at H2 and promoting my own websites within the travel and web marketing niches. I believe that all web marketing people should practice what they preach, it’s the only way to refine your methods and tactics. Of all the things I’ve ever done, the whole world of search engine and website marketing sits with me most comfortably.

I love to chat web, music and travel so feel free to pipe into any of my posts with your thoughts and comments. Overall, I will aim to blog about all of the various parts of the online world that can help push traffic to your website. I’ll include my own take on what has worked for me and what has not, along with one or two lil tricks I use to help things on their way.

Finally, I’ll aim to make every post concise enough to digest over one cup of fresh roasted coffee. Speaking of which, if you are near to me at any point on your travels, I’m always happy to meet in the offline world too – provided we chat about the online world at least some of the time over that coffee!

In July 2010, I was smuggled across the vast Atlantic ocean to join my American girlfriend in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. I loved every second of it and experienced first hand the wonderful freedom a life in SEO can bring. Since then, we have lived in the USA, returned back to the UK, moved over to Ireland for 3 months and currently, we are based in Portugal. Where next? Who knows!
